Abs-olutely!

1444

Get ready to rip those abs out! Summer is here, and a strong stomach shows discipline. That’s hot! The best part of a strong stomach are those cool, carved lines on the sides of your stomach—defining your obliques. This exercise will make it happen.

Pure Austin Master Fitness Specialist, Cain Grant wants to be sure you can bare your stomach with pride this summer. He also wants to make sure that the core exercises you choose are going to enhance your overall mobility and not hinder it. Crunches are pretty dated. An exercise like this side plank will help you build a strong core without compromising your posture or your spine. And, it will help improve your postural alignment. There is nothing good-looking about hunched shoulders. Standing tall with correct alignment keeps joints functioning properly and muscles working efficiently, not to mention it helps create a long and lean look.

1. Start by lying on your side with your legs and feet stacked on top of each other.

2. Next, put your underside elbow directly under your shoulder and extend your top arm to create a straight line from your fingertip to the opposite elbow.

3. Raise your hips off the ground using the forearm and the edge of the foot as the two points of contact.

Hold for 30 seconds and repeat on the opposite side. Extend time as you progress.
