    The 43rd annual Bayou City Art Festival Transforms Downtown into an Entertainment Destination of Art, Food and Live Music for the Entire Family October 11-12

    WHAT: Touted as one of the nation’s top ten annual outdoor fine art events, the Bayou City Art Festival Downtown 2014 boasts 300 national and international juried fine and visual performing artists working in 19 media. As one of Houston’s most anticipated bi-annual events, the festival offers a fun-filled weekend of art, live music, food and libations.

    WHO: 2014 featured artist Ella Richards. 300 renowned, juried, fine artists. The legendary Martha Wash of The Weathergirls, C&C Music Factory and Black Box fame and Grady Gaines & The Texas Upsetters.

    WHY: An arts and entertainment destination for the entire family, the Bayou City Art Festival Downtown offers a can’t miss weekend of art, entertainment, food, wine and beer featuring the inaugural Bayou City After Dark concert and cocktails, the popular Green Mountain Energy Children’s Creative Zone, the Adult Creative Zone as well as fine and festival fare offered from some of Houston’s most popular food trucks with libations from top-tier sponsor Stella Artois, wine from around the world in the William Hill Art of Wine Café, Barefoot Wines, Robust Energy Drink, Mountain Dew and Sweet Leaf Tea.

    Bayou City After Dark: With Houston’s iconic skyline as a backdrop, the fall festival will debut the first annual Bayou City After Dark, an evening of fine art, drinks and live music, a can’t miss event with performances by two time Grammy Nominee Martha Wash, the legendary voice of It’s Raining Men, Sweat (Everybody Dance Now), Strike It Up, and Everybody, Everybody as well as award-winning Grady Gaines & The Texas Upsetters. Additionally,NOMAD Sound of Austin, Texas will debut live painting and architectural video mapping performance pieces, projected in real time onto Houston’s downtown buildings all on Saturday, October 11, 2014 from 5-9:30pm.

    ABOUT THE FESTIVAL: Now in its 43rd year, the Art Colony Association has raised more than $35 million for local nonprofit programs through the festivals. This collaborative nonprofit event puts 100 percent of the proceeds back into the community through their 16 nonprofit partners. Bayou City Art Festivals is funded in part by a grant from the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance.

    PRICE: $15 for adults, $3 for children (ages 3-12)

    PUBLIC PARKING: VIP parking will be available under the City Hall Annex and event parking is available through WinPark located at 1100 Smith Street.
