Music: Joan Jett & The Blackhearts and More at F1 Fan Fest

1938

Do you love rock ‘n’ roll? Well, you’re going to love this. Joan Jett & The Blackhearts will be rocking out for a turbo-charged downtown party, the F1 Fan Fest, celebrating the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix. Joan Jett’s commonly referred to as the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll and even often portrayed as a member of the LGBT community – in the film, The Runaways, a 2010 drama based on the 70s band of the same name, many scenes elude to the idea of Jett being a lesbian, to which she responded in a New York Daily News article, “I’m not uncomfortable with it.”

Alongside headliners, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts will be hip-hop royalty De La Soul and Texas legends The Texas Tornados. This year’s F1 Fan Fest features food vendors, race stimulators, family activities, and free live shows, including Austin’s own “dream rock” singer Emily Wolfe, New Orleans folk-blues band Hurray for the Riff Raff, Austin’s king of country Dale Watson, and more over three stages. With diverse mix of music, and activities for the whole family, F1 Fan Fest should be a hit this Halloween weekend.
