How Do I know If I am Gay?

2617

How do you know if you are gay or not? Most people realize that they are different during their teenage years. Gay feelings often develop while growing up and experimenting with sexuality. If you explore a relationship with the same-sex that does not necessarily mean you are gay.

Defining human sexuality is a broad spectrum. If you are even asking yourself this question, you must have had some feelings or doubts about your sexual orientation. Do not beat yourself up over how you feel. It is better to talk to someone who has been through the same thing. That person can provide a wealth of knowledge.

Having a support system of people around you who understand what you are going through is valuable. Consequently, if a person tries to tell you that you need to change, or you are experiencing confusion, they are clearly not the person you need as a mentor. You need someone who can help you through this time and is a good listener.

There is nothing wrong with being gay if you are. There is nothing wrong with being heterosexual either. There is no test to take and no definite diagnosis. You can, however, ask yourself these questions to help clarify your feelings

*Do I feel emotionally bonded with the same-sex more than those of the opposite sex?

* Do I want to have a sexual relationship with someone of the same-sex?

*Have I had a sexual experience with the same-sex in the past?

*Do I find myself physically and sexually attracted to the same-sex?

If you can answer “yes” to these questions honestly, being gay is a probability. However, the key is not to put too much pressure on yourself about being gay or straight. Just live life to the fullest regardless of your sexual preference.
