This year is the 75th anniversary of Judy Garland’s walk down the Yellow Brick Road in “The Wizard of Oz,” and a group of Austin theater makers are celebrating writer Frank Baum’s enduring influence with a visit to Oz with a twist. “Bright Now Beyond” is a new musical from writer Daniel Alexander Jones, known to Austin audiences as Jomama Jones (of last summer’s “Radidate”). She returns to Austin to performs as both Ozma and Jack Pumpkinhead in this musical exploring themes of self-identity, love, sacrifice of gender for the common good, and war.
Why are we here? Who am I? Where am I going? Can you really make a difference?
