The Front Porch, The Window and All Saints’ Episcopal Church present ‘Love for Loro’ Garage Sale May 5-6

East Space, Austin TX
05/5/2017 - 05/6/2017 | 8:00 am - 8:00 pm

The Front Porch, in collaboration with The Window and All Saints’ Episcopal Church, is proud to present a very special event, the “Love for Loro” City-Wide Garage Sale on May 5 and 6, 2017. From now until July 31, students from schools, clubs, teams and faith communities across Austin are partnering to raise $35,000 to purchase hard rubber shoes and vitally important menstrual kits for all the students at Loro Primary School in Loro Village in Northern Uganda. The garage sale is open to the public and will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 5 and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 6 at East Space located at 2009 Airport Blvd., Austin, Texas 78721. Please see the below information on where to drop off items for the garage sale and other upcoming Front Porch events. See www.frontporchaustin.org/events for more information.

“Many of the Loro students must walk upwards of five miles a day without any shoes at all at a constant risk for infection, and many of the female students miss weeks of school a year due to a lack of proper care,” said Stephen Kinney, Executive Director of the Front Porch. “The ‘Love for Loro’ project seeks to assuage these urgent needs, and our desire is that the ‘Love for Loro’ Garage Sale will provide 20 percent of our goal. Donations for the sale are currently being accepted. Members of the Austin community may drop off their sellable, no longer needed items and turn into shoes for children who desperately need them.”

Donations can be made at the drop zones no later than Wednesday, May 3. Items needed are clothes, furniture, collectibles, musical instruments, electronics, books, movies, games, office supplies, accessories, jewelry, tools, kitchenware, dishes, toys, sporting goods, tents and tarps, lawn-care/gardening items, bikes, skateboards and more. Drop off locations include:

DROP ZONE A: EAST SPACE (2009 Airport Blvd.)
All large items (over 50 pounds) and furniture must be dropped off here. All items accepted. Items may be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week, starting on March 23. Not available on holidays.
