Blackbird and Henry opens!

After a few year’s hiatus, Chef Mark Schmidt of Cafe 909, returns and breathes new life into the Guadalupe/West Campus corridor. And Marble Fall’s loss is definitely Austin’s gain as this 35 year veteran of the restaurant scene revives some much missed dishes.

“Blackbird and Henry is a place to hang out and unwind after work, gather with friends for curry and pint night, and enjoy quality food,” says Chef Schmidt. “My Austin regulars at Café 909 will find a few of their favorites on the menu along with new twists and surprises that I hope will delight a wide variety of guests.”

Leaning on his British upbringing, Chef Schmidt and Certified Sommelier wife, Shelly partnered to bring pub fare and perfect pairings to this vibrant neighborhood gem while showcasing local farmers and independent suppliers such as Dyer Dairy of Georgetown, Houston Dairymaids, numerous craft ales and our favorite, cocktails on tap. And with a certified sommelier at the helm, the wine list is carefully curated and extremely approachable.

Lunch and dinner menus will offer an oyster & raw bar selection, rotating rotisserie specials and delectable dishes of duck, redfish, burgers and more. Rumors have it that a Sunday brunch is in the works, but for now the operating hours will be Tuesday through Sunday from 5p to midnight.
