The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas (WFFT) will introduce a brand new Austin food and drink event when it presents its inaugural Toast & Roast, set for Sunday, March 1 from 2-5 PM at Rancho Cuernavaca. Presented in association with Texas Monthly magazine, Toast & Roast will provide the perfect platform for the philanthropic foundation to showcase Texas food and wine while celebrating Texas Independence Weekend and supporting our state’s growing wine industry.

The can’t-miss winter event will kick off at 2 PM with an exclusive tasting of Texas Monthly’s Best Texas Wines of 2014, as selected by wine editor and Certified Sommelier, Jessica Dupuy. Guests will enjoy an hour-long sip and stroll tasting spotlighting selections from the magazine’s list while mingling with the winemakers.

At 3 PM, festivities will turn to the roast, a feast of grilled pig, goat and lamb prepared by chef John Bates of Austin’s Noble Sandwiches. Wines from Fall Creek Vineyards and Pedernales Cellars will complement the delectable food as revelers enjoy the stunning ranch scenery and lively music from popular Austin-based “browngrass” band, Sour Bridges.

“Our new ‘Toast & Roast’ event is a great way for us to extend our mission of bringing together a community of people who share a passion for both philanthropy and fine wine,” comments Mark ShillingWFFT board president. “What could be better than raising money by enjoying the best Texas wines and grilled meats from one of Austin’s hottest chefs in a beautiful ranch setting? Through our events, the Wine & Food Foundation of Texas has raised and contributed more than $100,000 in 2014 to support charities and nonprofits. We’re very excited to now add ‘Toast & Roast’ to our annual fundraising event schedule.”
