Alisa WeldonOliver Everette believes in giving back. A natural connector, he's a perfect fit for his role leading Sales and New Business Development. Through his interaction with advertisers, the relationships he's building with nonprofit organizations and all of the many bonds that the magazine has forged throughout Austin, Everette is not only bringing gay and lesbian individuals together with the companies that share their values, but he's truly establishing a citywide awareness of the power of the gay dollar. As such, he's opening minds and opening doors for the community. Everette has always lived openly as a proud gay man. His passion for creating a welcoming environment for LGBT individuals—and promoting more mindful consumption within the community—is evident in everything he does. "L Style G Style has afforded me a wonderful platform from which to connect community, promote commerce and raise visibility," he said. "I take immense pride and pleasure in what I do and I'm confident that what I do matters." Having lived in cities such as Washington, D.C., Boston and New Orleans, the bar on a new city was set high when Everette moved to Austin at the end of 2007. Ultimately, Everette's abiding philosophy—being open and making smart choices as a lesbian or gay consumer—dovetails well with the mission of L Style G Style, which profiles gay and lesbian individuals in a positive light, celebrates their achievements and dispels many fears and stereotypes along the way. "I'm a lucky man," he said. "I love what I do."
